Located in the heart of
North Columbus, Northside High School opened its doors to students for the
first time on August 19, 2002, as Columbus'
newest high school. Northside is a comprehensive high school
which offers a rigorous college preparatory program, including both honors and
advanced placement courses, and state-of-the-art technical and career programs.
Students in the college preparatory program have numerous opportunities to
expand their knowledge base with technology programs and earn a "dual
diploma" if they desire. Northside High School's academy program,
Engineering and Engineering Design , is linked to the national program, Project
Lead the Way, and is an exciting addition to the courses offered in Muscogee
County School District. Students enrolled in this special program have
opportunities to specialize in Engineering, Architecture, Information
Technology, or Engineering Design. They are required to participate in
community service and have many opportunities to participate in competitions
and extracurricular activities related to the engineering field.
At Northside, the emphasis
is on giving students a quality education in a safe, supportive,
technology-rich environment. Freshmen must take a computer
skills with application course that is designed to teach them basic
computer skills with applications. Students learn goal-setting, time
management, computer, and study skills that will make them more successful in
their academic and elective courses.
